Spicy October

Hello Autumn Lovers!

It is this time of the year, when you can take all your cozy sweaters and funny socks out and enjoy being inside with a cup of tea or a coffee. How vanilla and typical, but not for us, because we are going to spice it up for you!

Some are trying to go sober in October and we are trying to give it a nice touch with some absolutely amazing recipes for the homemade Glühwein and Cinnamon Cookies.

We know, it is not Christmas time yet, but it is never too early for a glass of tasty hot red wine. Here are the ingridients you would need:

  • A bottle of dry red wine
  • Orange
  • Sugar or honey
  • Cinnamon
  • Clove

Now that you have it all, get ready, because your house is going to smell winter like. First, you have to cut oranges, add some cinnamon, clove, sugar or honey, may be a bit of pepper or ginger, if you like it more spicy and add some water. Once you have it ready, add a bit of water and put on a low fire for 10-15 minutes. Let this mass turn into something looking like a jam. Once you notice it is turning dark brown, start adding wine and water ( or no water, depending how drunk you want to be). Leave the wine on a very low fire for about half an hour under the lid. Make sure it is not going to boil, because that is not what you need. The spices have to give all the taste (and smell!) to the wine, so you can actually call it Glühwein and not warmed up Sangria!

While you are enjoying your first glass of this wonderful drink, we are already thinking how to please you with some sweets and here comes handy a recipe for the cinnamon cookies. To bake the best cinnamon cookies you would need:

  • Eggs
  • Vanilla powder
  • Butter
  • Sugar
  • Flour
  • Cinnamon
  • Baking Powder
  • Salt

         Ready, Steady , Bake.

Cream together 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of butter in the mixing bowl, then beat in an egg and add a tea spoon of vanilla. Blend it all in one and then mix one and a half cups of flour with a tea spoon of salt, cinnamon and baking powder. Add it to the butter mixture. You have to blend it well and then put in the fridge for 2 hours.

When the time has come, take it out and start making small balls you will be able to put on the cookie sheets. Once you have covered the cookie sheet, you can add some cinnamon or vanilla powder on top and put it in the oven to bake for 10 min on the 180° C.

Voila, spicy October!
