Croatia

As we all are going through challenging times of uncertainty and travel restrictions, we might start to reconsider our travel plans and options. We are stuck in Europe and if you are too, then this post is for you as we are going to talk about sunny Croatia!

While a lot of countries still impose travel restrictions, Croatia is one of the countries in Europe welcoming tourists for holiday season this year. From pretty much anywhere in Central Europe you can get to sunny coast by car. The road is rather smooth and always fun, if you have the right attitude. Croatia offers a lot of places on the shoreline, where you can spend your entire vacation or a day or two.  Of course, everyone knows Dubrovnik, Split and Zadar as those are most famous destinations and offer a large variety of activities and accommodation types. Today we are going to talk about Pula, cozy town located on the tip of Istrian Peninsula. It is well known for its harbour and its long traditions of shipbuilding, fishing and tourism. Pula downtown is a reminder of ancient Roman history as you can find ruins which are still standing from the times when Pula was part of the Roman Empire. The city itself is very well maintained and looked after, the streets are very clean and cozy with a lot of outdoor terraces, markets and little shops. While the landscape might remind you of Italy, the culture is more Eastern.

You will definitely enjoy the calm life on the shore, beautiful landscapes, excellent food and local wine and spirits. The place is also perfect when traveling with children as it offers a lot of outdoors activities and the beach is full of playgrounds. The sea is rather calm and you can find a lot of sea creatures in the water, but they are not dangerous.

Make sure you visit Fažana and check out the national park or simply walk around the shore and grab lunch or dinner in one of the restaurants : Korta Restaurant or Konoba Batana. Both offer a very fresh selection of sea food and other local specialties.

As sanitary restrictions are still in place and regulations oblige restaurants and bars close before 11 there is not much of a nightlife going on. Despite the situation every restaurant or bar is more than happy to offer you drinks to go, so you can enjoy your nights on the beach. Make sure you make the best out of this time and enjoy your summer!
