American dream – City of Angels!
Not to lie, at least once in a lifetime you have thought about quitting what you are doing and moving to sunny California to enjoy life. We are here to give you a sneak peak of life in L.A. and share our impressions.
Los Angeles is one of the largest cities in the U.S. and is the largest in California. You absolutely can not get by without a car, because of the distance and public transportation not being very well developed. There are quite some areas where you might want to stay, which would be: Beverly Hills, Hollywood Hills, Santa Monica and Venice. Out of those 4, Venice is the most hipster and offers a lot of great restaurants, bars and outdoor terraces to have a snack or a drink. Important to mention that not all the areas along the Venice beach seem safe, so if traveling with family and children, we would recommend to consider another area for your stay, for example Santa Monica.
L.A. has a very relaxed and happy vibe as if the world had slowed down for a moment. Important to mention that L.A. is also a city of contrasts, where in some areas you have luxury stores, expensive houses and cars and just a block away you find the area full of homeless people that did not fulfill their dream of becoming a movie star. Regardless, you feel rather safe in the city and won’t spend much time downtown, except going to see the walk of fame and maybe do some shopping.
If you love sports and hiking – L.A. is a perfect place for you! You can find various hiking trails up the hills, work out stations on the beach and simply a lot of natural parks worth a visit. You may want to check out “Sacred Cove” in Palos Verdes or drive down to Santa Monica, Santa Barbara as those are on the shore. In the city you can check out Sage Hill, Marsh Street Natural Park or Griffith Park.
While in L.A. make sure you stop by County Museum of Art and The Broad Museum as they often have very good exhibitions of various contemporary artists.
